The golden orb in the atmosphere had long ago vanished, as did it's wonderful performance of painting majestic hues upon its vast canvas. Now, the night sky was dominant. Minute silver specks were askew in the sky, they dazzled, danced, and twinkled on their glorious stage. Below, grazed a single equine. The buckskin czar nibbled contently at the lush blades, replenishing his hunger. The moon's weak metallic illumination bounced off of the stag's golden pelt, enhancing it's hues, making it appear to be a weak shade of blue. The sounds of crickets singing night songs and critters stirring in their sleep filled the air. The soft breathing of the bronc was hardly audible, disregarding the quiet, soft snorts of content.
Ceasing his measly feast, the brute lifted his dial to the heavens. The stars intrigued him, as they always have. His one trademark was to star-gaze and send silent, and occasionally vocal, messages through them to others. Mentally speaking, he expressed his love to his heaven-bound former lover, as well as to his family. A family in which he had left numerous summers ago. Though, the stud did not regret his decision to turn down the throne and leave his herd. The desire to elude such fame and admiration was imperative. It had to have been done. He was too young back then for a herd of his own, and one of such magnitude as the one he was still heir to.
Letting out a soft call to the stars, the beast returned to his mindless grazing. Why he always did this, every night, was a mystery. Though, there was purpose. Indeed, behind this ritual were mysterious intentions....
